‘A tide is a very long wave’ presents new and existing work from seven Australian artists. The gravitational forces between the Earth’s oceans and its moon give rise both to the tides and the curatorial concept. The exhibition explores the themes of tidal systems, from the metaphorical longing inherent in distant celestial attraction, the politics and lore of oceanspace, through the complex interplay of physical systems resolving in a steady periodicity, to the malleable nature of water itself. Curated by Sarah Hibbs.
