Biophilia: a hypothetical human tendency to interact or be closely associated with other forms of life in nature : a desire or tendency to commune with nature.
Coming to Michael Reid Sydney this June, Biophilia is world renowned photographer Petrina Hicks‘ latest collection of arresting works of art. Exploring the porous space between human and animal states, photographs in Biophilia are feats of technical accomplishment.
As a prelude to the exhibition, on Wednesday 17th May 2023 Petrina Hicks will join Robbie Buck for a live discussion at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. The live symposium will address Biophilia, Hicks’ global practice and the representation of women and feminine iconography throughout art history and mythology.
Biophilia at Michael Reid Sydney is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW.
