We are pleased to invite you to the opening of Vivienne Binns | Enamels
OPENING ON THURSDAY 16 MAY 2024, 6-8PM at Conners Conners (Fitzroy Town Hall).
Vivienne Binns learnt enamelling while teaching in the late 1960s. In 1976, Binns and Marie McMahon initiated the exhibition Experiments in Vitreous Enamel - Portraits Of Women. Presented first at Watters Gallery, Sydney, and then the George Paton Gallery, Melbourne, it included works by Binns, McMahon, Toni Robertson and Frances Budden. Binns continued working with enamelling into the 1980s, the medium used for works in the iconic and important project Mothers’ memories others’ memories (1979-81).
Vivienne Binns | Enamels, brings together a broad selection of enamelled works from Binns’s career, revealing the breadth of her experimentation and approach. It includes iconic works on steel plates as well as enamelled goblets, and sculptural objects made of copper.
Vivienne Binns is represented by Sutton Gallery, Melbourne.
