What started as an act of cleanliness has shifted into a visualisation of creative consumption: the humble paper towel, an artist’s trusted and often abused instrument, is given the spotlight. Comprised of 3600 uniquely dyed rags, this site-responsive installation is a culmination of a process that has existed alongside the artist's practice for the last five years. Spivak’s current processes collaborate with the alchemical world, creating temporal artworks that express a deep adoration and understanding for the materials used. His fascination with the invisible and obsession for process-led experimentation culminate here at Airspace Projects in a large-scale, site responsive installation. “i may never get to heaven ‘cause i don’t know how” is the fifth, and possibly final, iteration of a process that has existed alongside the artist’s practice for the last five years. While visually commanding, the artist would like to draw attention to the original pieces that inspired this line of creation - RAGS is Spivak’s second self-published book and reveals in detail the variances within this single artistic gesture.
