My Mother's Mother’ The project is an exploration of the concept relating to transgenerational trauma. It features symbolic "bundles" made of lead crystal, each of different sizes, scattered around the installation space. These bundles are connected by braided human hair, representing the unseen emotional bonds that link generations. The hair, red in colour and intricately braided, weaves a complex web throughout the installation, creating an emotionally charged atmosphere.
Brenda is an artist living in Wurundjeri country, Dandenong ranges, an hour from Melbourne. She has a bachelor of glass from Monash University and studied fine art at RMIT. Much of her work utilises sculptural glass with screen printed elements. She considers glass her canvas and screen printing her brush. Her ascetics reference Victorian memento mori. For 21 years she ran an open access glass studio, Blue Dog Glass. She now spends her time exhibiting, teaching small group workshops and running artist retreats.
