Lorna Napanangka’s paintings depict designs associated with the rockhole site of Marrapinti, situated in a creek west of the Pollock Hills in Western Australia.
She began her painting career with finely executed linear grids and fine dotting. Through this work she developed a strong reputation and influenced many of her peers in the years to come. But recently Lorna’s work took a striking new direction. After a break from painting she re-discovered her passion for painting with a completely new approach. Gone was the fine detail and in its place a bold and colourful expressive style that she has embraced and made her own. This exhibition introduces the new Lorna Napanangka.
