Genevieve Carroll lives in Hill End, NSW, surrounded by the Australian bush. In this remote environment she imagines inner worlds that traverse the ranges of her life. The Wattle Room Chapter 11 oysters and buttered bread is the next iteration of her diaristic notations on life. Working across textiles, sculpture, painting, and poetry, she is drawn to absurdity to find humour in the fluctuations of life. Multilayered and rich, Carroll’s works are filled with discordant notes of colour, the changing seasons, and the interior and exterior architectures of her home.
