Sulman Prize AGNSW 2023 finalist, Oscar Sulich, returns with a full suite of eclectic new paintings.
Oscar conjures a visual language which is without evident hierarchy. Beautiful and obsessed, haunted by our precarious age. Unspecified narratives and urban landscapes flicker before our eyes, the past ambushes the future.
His capacity with paint on canvas alludes to an absence, or the opposite of something actual. A collection of single faces are examined by his gaze like a slide projector - Antonio, Nico, Kenneth, Laura, Bob, Andy, Cher, Chloe, Brodie and himself, Oscar.
Since graduating from the National Art School, Sydney, Oscar Sulich has participated in a number of solo and group shows at inner city Sydney and Melbourne exhibition spaces.
Oscar is also a musician and has released a number of original compositions under the name Boba Lego.
