We are proud to announce our latest exhibition featuring work by the Korean artist Younegun Kim.
Kim’s beautiful, intricate work highlights the often unseen and overlooked practice of Badae, a component of traditional Hanbok (Korean national dress) making.
By focusing on this usually invisible, but incredibly important, aspect of the craft she is highlighting the fact that the manufacturer of Hanbok is more than simply the production of garments, but rather an intricate and elegant construction that goes beyond simple technique and process and becomes something far more meaningful.
Comprised entirely of silk, the forms display both a rigidity and a fluidness, soft yet strong and reward close viewing with their detailed stitching and construction.
