Bones and Fun' is a collection of new paintings by Jesús Aguado. Opening reception: Saturday June 22nd, 6 - 9pm. Drinks will be provided by our friends at Better Beer. This exhibition will run from June 23rd - July 14th and will coincide with Gigi Chen's 'A Collective Glow', Richard Ahnert's 'Alchemy of Objects' and Briana Hertzog's ' A Feral Garden' . In 'Bones and Fun' Jesús Aguado delves into the paradox of existence, where joy and darkness coexist. His work's dark, visceral tones often mask the underlying bliss, reflecting how light and love are fully appreciated only after experiencing darkness. Aguado's art is shrouded in mystery and mysticism yet always tinged with a touch of the absurd, offering a unique commentary on his world. The chimerical beings he portrays, often depicted dissected and exposing their innards may initially appear gruesome. However, in their raw openness, these figures embrace vulnerability, serving as symbols of life's absurdity and strange contradictions. Aguado masterfully captures the essence of existence, where a vivacious ecstasy of tranquil joy can be found even in the depths of darkness. Jesús Aguado holds a degree in Fine Arts and has spent over 15 years as an illustrator. His work has featured in numerous publications by companies like Edelvives, Kumon, Santillana, and National Geographic. Aguado's passion for comics has earned him awards in competitions such as Elgoibar, Tomelloso, Portugalete, and Salamanca. Always in pursuit of new styles and expressions, Aguado transitioned to traditional painting in 2018. His unique blend of absurdity and mystery in art reflects a constant exploration of life's paradoxes. Whether creating for commercial clients or indulging in personal projects, Aguado's work resonates with a broad audience, celebrating the joy and strangeness of existence.
