Town Hall Gallery presents a screening of ‘Gerhard Richter Painting’ at Hawthorn Arts Centre as part of the program for the major exhibition Pattern Recognition.
Filmed in the spring and summer of 2009 and directed by Corinna Belz, this documentary offers insight into the practice of one of the world’s most significant contemporary artists working today.
Gerhard Richter, now 92, has spent over 70 years experimenting with an extensive range of techniques and concepts. This film provides a rare look inside his studio, showcasing his creative, archival footage and discussions with critics and collaborators.
The screening will include a curator-led exhibition tour of ‘Pattern Recognition’ before the film. Pattern Recognition features the work of Emma Coulter, Casey Jeffery, Chaco Kato, Jenna Lee, Kent Morris, and Esther Stewart.
Town Hall Gallery and the Arts Bar will be open late.
