OPENING NIGHT: FRIDAY 20th SEPTEMBER, 6-8.30PM "Liminal" - of, relating to, or situated at a sensory threshold : 2. : of, relating to, or being an intermediate state, phase, or condition : in-between, transitional. In the Victorian era, English women recreationally collected, pressed, and preserved seaweed, transforming it into graceful artworks. This overlooked pastime, once considered a feminine hobby, now stands as a significant contribution to documenting ocean biodiversity. Collecting debris from the coastline, both dead and alive, forms the basis of my investigations, exploring both a feminist and environmental lens. My work is a vehicle for contemplation and action. With concern for the living, the transient and the dead I weave my work into a fantasy land where all exist harmoniously, but in reality cannot.
