‘Our Place: 20 Years of Town Hall Gallery’ is a major exhibition celebrating the 20th anniversary of Town Hall Gallery and its Collection.
Landscapes carrying post-war traditions by John Brack and Fred Williams are being brought into view amid contemporary suburban observations by Selina Ou and the point of view of Lin Onus. Abstract paintings by Yvonne Audette and Helen Maudsley are hung alongside contemporary works by Kylie Stillman and Emily Floyd.
Featuring some of Australia’s most important artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, ‘Our Place: 20 Years of Town Hall Gallery’ recognises the breadth of talent living, working, or studying in the Boroondara municipality.
Significant artworks from the Town Hall Gallery Collection have been grouped within the themes of ‘People’, ‘Places’ and ‘Perspectives’.
Magnetic examples of portraiture, vivid depictions of man-made and natural places, and contemporary art forms translate unique ways of seeing the world and versions of recent art history.
The exhibition is an opportunity to draw exceptional items from the Town Hall Gallery Collection that reflect the community of Boroondara back to itself. It celebrates the role of the gallery in the community and the national arts sector.
Our Place: 20 Years of Town Hall Gallery features works by Yvonne Audette AM, Samara Adamson-Pinczewski, John Brack, Sir William Dargie CBE, Alfred Engel, Emily Floyd, Tony Lloyd, Helen Maudsley, Lin Onus, Selina Ou, Kylie Stillman, Fred Williams OBE, Dora Wilson, John Young AM and more.
