‘Universally Repaired’ is a community artwork co-created by multi-disciplinary artist Rachel Wood and members of the community in Boroondara.
Part art installation, part museum artefact, Universally Repaired is Wood’s impression of the ozone layer. Installed at Hawthorn Arts Centre from October 2, the large-scale work is a collection of smaller art pieces made only with upcycled materials by community members through workshops, social circles, and classrooms.
The installation highlights fast fashion’s impact on our planet as the second-largest contributor to our carbon footprint and its devastating implications for our environment.
